Nordstrom Rack Haul

06/01/2013 20:24

My daughters and I spend QT with my sister-in-law and niece today and went to Ontario Mills to look for a few birthday and grad gifts. We swung by Nordstrom Rack to check if they had Roxy purses for a graduate. My girls and I ended up going to the makeup section...of course. Last time we were there they had Smashbox, Urban Decay, Lorac, etc.. In addition to what they had last time time, they had a whole selection of NYX Cosmetics. I've come to learn that I'm not much of a fan of their eye shadows, so I didn't even think to browse. Anyhow, I came across one of the few Urban Decay products available which was the Ammo Palette. I've seen this many times at Sephora and Ulta. The regular price is $38 and has 3 colors from the Naked Palette (smog, sin, and chopper). It has 10 shades: smog (bronze), mildew (moss green), oil slick (shimmery black), last call (cranberry/fuscia), chopper (shimmery champagne), maui wowie (light grayish/green), shattered (soft teal), polyester bride (shimmery cream), grifter (pinky purple), and sin (shimmery nude with pink undertone). All shades are shimmery and typically colors I don't go for. I figured for $15 I could break out of my comfort zone a little, right?! The palette comes in cardboard packaging with a mirror and magnetic closure, which I love.

While in line I saw they also had the NYX Black Label lipsticks! I was so excited! I love, love, love these lipsticks as they keep my lips moisturized. They are so pigmented and sort of leave my lips a bit stained. I'm not sure if that is one of the products claims but I love that they do! They didn't have all the colors available but they did have Dusty Rose, which is one of my go-to lipsticks and Diva, which is one of the colors on my wishlist. Lol. They also had Summer in the Hamptons which I purchased for my bestie, Rose Ann. We usually purchase the Black Label's from eBay as we have not yet seen them in any stores...until today! Yippee! The price on these beauties is $7.50 wich is about how much we would purchase them for on eBay. I ended up purchasing Diva and Summer in the Hampton's. I'll be testing out the UD palette as well as Diva! If I can get a decent photo of the look (doubt it) I'll post it. Lol.

Sorry about the lighting. It doesn't really show the liptsticks true color. When you get a chance you can check out the shades on eBay from the person I usually purchase from, betterthancouponz. : )

Have a blessed one!

Laura Geller - Great Bang For My Buck!

05/25/2013 16:30

We went to Victoria Gardens in Rancho Cucamonga and stopped by Ulta, surprise, surprise! Everytime we go there I see this Laura Geller Fresh Brewed Beauty. It is a "blend of eyes, face, and lips." It comes in this super cute coffee bean bag package.

After seiing what came in the kit I really couldn't resist! The package comes with 1 Balance-n-Brighten, 1 Baked ImPRESSions Blush in Mauve Mocha Latte, Baked Highlighter in Vanilla, Baked ImPRESSions Eye Palette in Espresso Yourself, Color Drenched Lip Closs in Cafe au Lait, and 1 double ended applicator. I believe all items are full size. The cost of the package was $39.00 but retail value is $142, a total savings of $103!!!

Sorry for the terrible quality but above to the left is swatches of the eyeshadows and to the left is the swatches of the blush and highlighter. It really has better payoff when you use an eyeshadow primer. I used my Lorac eye primer. I was disappointed with the applicator. It's acutally a dual ended sponge applicator. When I purchased it I thought they were acutal brushes. : ( It is still an awesome bargain, nonetheless! I've heard good things about Laura Geller from a few YouTube beauty gurus and I'm happy I finally got to try it out!

My New Love

05/19/2013 23:01

So my husband and I went to Vegas for our wedding anniversary back in April. While making a checklist of things to pack for Vegas, I noticed my list of cosmetics was ridiculously never ending. I figured the only way to minimize my long list was to purchase a new eyeshadow palette. Lol. Great excuse to buy makeup eh? I wanted to get an all-in-one type palette. I did a little research and saw that there were three popular palettes: Urban Decay Naked Naked 1 Palette, Naked 2 Palette, and the Lorac Pro Palette. I looked at the colors of all three palettes online and saw that the Lorac Pro Palette would suit me best. Why? This palette has 8 matte shades and 8 shimmer shades, The palette has shades I wear most such as purple and brown tones. The packaging is sleek, lightweight, and also has a mirror. Two downsides to this palette: the packaging is matte, therefore it gets dirty easily. Since I'm a tad anal about my makeup I just clean it with a wet wipe and it looks like new again. Anyhow, though, the shadows have awesome pigmentation, there can be lots of fall out. I love this palette, nonetheless. : ) Okay, I'm in love with it. :D A little tip: since I am a little anal about my makeup, I clean off the outside of the palette with a wet wipe and it's like new again. : ) This palette is sold for $42 and comes with a mini eyeshadow primer, which I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!!!

Okay, I couldn't resist. While doing research/window shopping at Ulta, my daughter and I came across another Lorac palette called Unzipped. The colors are so beautiful! I can't say the colors suite me better than the Lorac Pro, but they really are beautiful. There are 10 colors: 3 matte and 7 shimmer.

Obviously I couldn't resist! Lol. I purchased both palettes. Ugh! If there was an emoticon of a face smacking itself in the forehead, I would totally insert that right now. I can't lie, I don't regret it. I'm happy I got both! I sometimes use the 2 lighter shimmer colors as highlight for the high planes of my face. Looks lovely. : ) This palette is sold for $40 which also comes with a mini eyeshadow primer. Also note that these 2 palettes have cardboard packaging.

I brought these 2 palettes to Vegas and it was more than enough. The colors are great for both day and night and the colors accentuate each other very well. : )  Both palettes are available at Ulta and I believe Sephora. You can also purchase these 2 items on amazon.com.

Okay, okay...so I purchased another Lorac Palette today! It's called the Lorac GLOgetter and it is exclusive to Ulta. It was a great bargain as it only cost $20! Yup, $20!!! This palette has cooler tones and really reminds of tropical colors. I'm not one to wear "tropical" or cool colors as I feel they do not suit me much, but I figure since summer is rolling around it would be great to break out of my comfort zone.

This palette has 1 matte brown and 9 shimmer shades. The 2 large shadows on the bottom of the palette can be used for base colors as well as shimmer for the high planes of your face. It has beautiful brown plastic packaging with a large mirror inside Can't wait to try it out. Once I do I'll let you know what I think of it.

I have much more to share, but it is time for me to hit the sack and watch my Grey's Anatomy! Have a beautiful night...or early morning!

March 2013 Blog Challenge FAILED...and Update

05/05/2013 23:51

I obviously failed the March 2013 Blog Challenge! Lol. It was so hard to keep up with! Hence, "challenge"! I thought I'd be able to keep up by using my iPad but for some strange reason it will not allow me to download photos and I often got booted from the site. Hopefully June Blog Challenge will be a success!

So my friend gave me her Netflix account username and password and I've been hooked! A few people have talked about the AMC television series The Walking Dead. I didn't know how much I enjoy watching zombies until I started watching this series! It was so addicting and so consuming. There were a couple occasions when I was praying before bed and absolutely could not focus on my prayer! All I could think about were the "walkers" and scenarios I had just watched. Terrible, I know! I can't wait for season 3 to be availabe on Netflix. Then I started wathing MTV reality series The Hills. my husband bought me all the seasons on DVD back when we were dating, but it's so much easier to watch it on Joey (my iPad mini). I forgot how much drama there was on that show! Now I'm into Grey's Anatomy, thanks to April and Rose Ann! Lol. I love that every character on the show are great actors. You know it's awesome acting when almost every episode can make me cry!

Anyhow, I have so much to share. My husband and I recently celebrated our wedding anniversary and ate our hearts out! I'll post soon.

Have a blessed day!

Dinner With An Old Friend

03/17/2013 21:54

Thursday night I had dinner with an old friend. : ) I have not seen her since 2011 when she was pregnant with her son. Over the years we have had a touch and go kind of friendship --we're close and then we're not, we're close and then we're not. I have known her since elementary school and really didn't start getting close until high school. She lived across the street (fun!) Her family became mine and mine hers. We both worked for the county of Los Angeles in our late teens to our early twenties. We had a lot of great times...and we have had quite a few ruts as well. Despite all the ups and downs, it's always nice to see her and catch up on the time passed. I finally met her beautiful son. It's great to finally  see her natural motherly insticts come into play with her son. : )

So since we've had this touch and go kind of friendship for forever, we promised we'd have lunch/dinner/play date quarterly. : ) It was great seeing her and great to know that she's still the same good friend I've had over the years.

The photo taken below was taken at my complany Christmas Party circa '98-'99?
