Day 3 of March 2013 Blog Challenge - What Makes You Happy?

03/03/2013 16:01

There are many things that make me happy. : ) These are just a few: watching my children play together, hearing my children laugh, watching scary shows/movies with my older daughter, being able to give, boba, makeup, when my husband draws little pictures on the cap of my water bottles, when my husband prepares breakfast and snacks for me on Sunday mornings, spending time with my entire family, reading, blogging.

Have a blessed Sunday!

By far, my favorite bottle cap drawing from the hubby : )

An Amazing Valentine's Day Gift

03/01/2013 10:36

Valentine's morning I woke up to one of the most thoughtful gifts from my older daughter, Jennalyn.

I posted it immediately on my Instagram.

When you have children there is so much pressure. There's even more pressure when you want to be a great parent. I wrote a love letter to my daughter and this is what it read:

Dearest Babe,

Happy Valentine's Day! This is my love letter to you. : )

I've loved you since I set eyes on you, August 24th 19-- at 4:08 p.m. From the time you were in the womb, I told myself that I would do everything I can to be a great mother. I had so much to prove, not only to myself but to my family and friends. I felt like I had to prove to the world that a 17 year old teenager would be able to succeed in raising a little person. It was definitely hard. There were a lot of nights crying while holding you, rocking you to sleep. There also had to be discipline which I hated doing, but for me, it was all about teaching you the lesson.

To see you grow into such a beautiful, smart, kind, and silly young lady makes me very proud. I like to think...or hope that I had something to do with that. Lol! The most rewarding part is to know that you love me unconditionally. You're mature enough to understand me and why I make the choices I make in raising you and your sister.

It's important for you to know that everything I do and everything I say, I have every intention of instilling something great in you. Self respect, love, honestly, confidence, security, faith in God, strength, compassion, and loyaltyare just a few of the things I would like fo you to take with you. I know you;ll run into tough times. Somethimes you will even think God is picking on you, but just have faith. When you really just don't know the answers, leave it in His hands and He will take care of it. Know that there is a reason for everything.

You know that I overly love you and your sister and there is absolutely nothing I would not do to protect you both from this crazy world. Like I've told you before, if I can keep you and Jazzy in a bubble to protect you, I would. You two are all that I truly live for...and my ultimate gift will be to see the both of you become successful in all aspects of life.

You're an amazing daughter, babe. I owe my life to you because you saved me the day you were born.

With All the Love in the World,

Your Overly Loving Mother

* Late Post * Valentine's Date Night with My Babe

02/21/2013 10:18

Valentine's date with the daughter. Yippeee! we weren't quite hungry yet so we walked around one of our favorite stores, Target! Lol. While walking around, we saw the Easter candy like Cadbury Eggs, Peeps, then... ahhhhhhhh (Angel's singing) WHITE CHOCOLATE M & M's!!! Girl, you best believe I grabbed 2 bags right away! Shooooot! Lol. If you love white chocolate you will definitely love this!

After Target we headed over to Buffalo Wild Wings, Jen's favorite. We had the mild and Buffalo wings and I think we got a little too excited as we ordered a whole 18 wings! I completely forgot their wings are the size of pterodactyls wings! I think we only had 5 a piece and packed the rest up. Thinking the 18 wings wouldn't fill us up, we ordered chips and salsa, too, which Jen didn't even touch. >: / Let me tell ya...I certainly didn't feel fat enough so we went to Pinkberry after. Lol. I think they have the best original yogurl! Yum!

After the 5 lb weight gain from dinner and dessert, we finally headed over to the movie theater to watch Safe Haven. I loved the book. I heard great things about it so I bought it. To be quite honest, after the first chapter I put it down and didn't look at the darn book for a few days. I tried to pick it up here and there to read it, but found myself reading the sentences over and over again. The beginning was quite a bore. When I finally completed the 2nd and 3rd chapter I had trouble putting the book down. About halfway through the book I heard the movie was coming out so I rushed to finish it. Love, love, loved it!!! Now, the movie on the other hand I did not love so much. I was so excited to watch it. Jen kept reminding me that the movie probably wouldn't be as good as the book...and she was right. First of all, the acting was terrible!!! Julianne Hough is soooo cute but boy, does she suck at acting! Josh Duhamel is really nice to look at but his acting isn't so great either. Overall, the movie was so so. They changed parts of the book and omitted parts in the book that I thought were really key to how the story played out. Boo!

Read the book, guys...but skip the movie! Lol. Have a blessed day. : )

Hello Flawless Update and Valentine's Day Celebration

Benefit Hello Flawless Update

Sorry, I haven't gotten the chance to even try Benefit's Hello Flawless Foundation Powder. I'm still trying to finish my 2 Laura Mercier Foundation Powders. I will let you know as soon as I get to try it. : )

Late Valentine's Day Celebration

My husband and I rarely celebrate Valentine's Day the day of. We typically celebrate the weekend of to avoid the Valentine's Day restaurant craziness. This year the hubby surprised me and took me to a Japanese joint called Crazy Mike's Sushi in West Covina for lunch. Why lunch? Because we had a get together later that evening for a close friends birthday. : )

We both had the All You Can Eat and it was well worth it. : ) Afterwards, we had Yogurtland and went back to his office to drop off some kids at the pool. ;D We swung by the mall after then headed towards home.

I hope you all had a wonderful Valentine's Day!

Hello Flawless and My early Christmas Gift from the Hubby!

12/24/2012 17:47

While doing last minute Christmas shopping with Jazzy, I decided to pass by Ulta to check how much they sell NYX Skin Tone eye shadow base. We checked it out and it turned out they charge a little more than this random shoe store that sells it. Anyhow, we walked around and came across Benefit Cosmetics. My older daughter had mentioned that a close family friend swears by their foundation powder, Hello Flawless. I'm currently using my Laura Mercier foundation powder. I'm totally loving it again at the moment because since I've been using it on a daily, I've received so many compliments on my skin. I've hit pan already so I decided to try Hello Flawless.  swatched it on my hand and on my jawline and the shade Beige seems to suite me most. I also compared my Laura to Hello Flawless Beige and it appeared pretty close. The texture is soft and silky on my fingertips...and quite frankly reminds me of my Laura. The only thing I'm concerned about at this point is if it'll break me out! Yikes! I hope not. I'm going to wait until I'm all tapped out of my Laura to try Hello Flawless and I will definitely let you guys know.

I was trying to blog on my new toy that the hubby got me for Christmas, but unfortunately was having difficulties. He bought me a new iPad Mini. She's so cute! Yes, she! I've named her Joey. : ) Joey, because my husbands name is Joe. Lol. I love her so much and love playing with her!

Happy Christmas Eve!!!

Dupes for MAC Mineralized Skin Finish, Mineralized Blushes & Lipglass

12/21/2012 12:18

I was watching emilynoel83 of Beauty Broadcast on YouTube and saw that she had mentioned a drugstore brand called Milani Cosmetics. Her review really enticed me because I'm so into MAC MIneralized Skin FInish. I went to Walgreens with my daughter and I bought a couple of their baked blushes and I LOVE them! I love the shades they have and how they make my skin look so healthy and glowing. These blushes are highly pigmented. My only gripe is that they're a bit powdery. I run my brush through it and it's all in the air. This product runs anywhere from $7-$8. depending on where you go. Milani is available at Target, Walgreens, and I belive Walmart.

(From left to right: Lminoso 05, Bellissimo Bronze 06, Corallina 08, Red Vino 09)

(Baked Blush swatches in order mentioned above)

Next is the Milani Baked Bronzers. I love, love, love! Ihave 2 shades: Glow 04 and Soleil 05. Glow reminds of MACS Mineralized Skin Finish in Soft and Gentle, which I use almost everyday. They aren't quite the same shade as the Milani Glow is a bit of a rose gold tone and the Soft and Gentle is a silvery shade. These bronzers are very shimmery, so be warned. Lol. I love shimmer, especially in the summer time. : )

Lastly, the MAC Lipglass dup. It's called Milani Crystal Gloss, which I feel is pretty darn close to the lipglass. I used to use lipglass a lot when I was younger, but found myself not liking the thick and sticky consistency. I went to Walgreens or Target, I can't remember. I was looking for more Milani blushes and my my little one grabbed a lipgloss and told me that I should buy that paticular one called Whisper. Lol. I looked at it and thought it almost looked lke MACs Lipglass in C-thru or Florabundance. Best part of it was that it was on sale for $2 and some odd cents. So I purchased it and tried it on. Man, it smelled like Lipglass and the consistency was almost the same, minus the thick stickiness! Yippee yayokayay!!! What a find! Thanks to Jazzy baby. :D

(Swatch on the left is MAC Florabundance and swatch on the right is Milani Whisper)

This particular product ranges from $4.50-$6.00. Try it out! They do not have a wide variety of the Crystal Lipgloss. I believe I only saw about 3-4 other shades and Whisper appealed to me the most.

I hope this was helpful! Have a great day!
