Yesterday's Makeup Playdate Photos

09/30/2012 23:35

We spend the day at my parents place yesterday while the hubby was at a seminar. We had fun playing makeup. The pink photo box is of my sister, Bev. She likes the natural look so we went for a very soft look. She doesn't wear foundation at all so complained the whole time about her face feeling cakey! Lol. She did like the end result...that's the important thing. I used Revlon Colorstay and mixed shades 300 and 360 because I didn't have a shade to match her perfectly. For her eyes I used soft brown, texture, mulch (all by MAC), and clubbing by Jane to define her crease a bit more. For her cheeks I used NYC bronzer in Sunny and my Lace blush palette by Sleek. Lastly, I used Soft and Gentle, for highlight.  I didn't apply gloss/lipstick on her lips because they were extrememly dehydrated. She just slapped some Vaseline on that sucker! The green photo box is of Jen, my silly daughter. I opened up my photo log on my phone and this is what I saw. Lol!

After picking up my husband from his seminar we headed straight to Bruxie in DT Brea. I tried the Chicken and Waffle with Maple Syrup (photo on the right) and we all shared a Seasonal Creme Brulee. I still like my Pastrami more! Hubby got the Lox and Waffle with dill cream cheese, Jen got the Burger, and Jazzy had some fries and waffle.

Have a blessed Sunday everyone!

Makeup Playdate With My Sister!

09/28/2012 10:32

I'm no makeup artist but I LOVE to play makeup whenever I get the opportunity! Since I'm off tomorrow, my daughters and I are dropping the hubby off at a seminar near my parents place. While he's at the seminar the girls and I will be hanging out with my family. My younger sister, Bev will be staying at my parents until Sunday and I can't wait to see her. We were texting back and forth today and I asked her if she wanted to play makeup while I was over there. Lol. She said yes and is very excited! As am I! : ) I packed some makeup and brushes. I packed a lot of my Sleek palettes because they're small. I also packed a few highlighters, bronzers, foundations, mascaras, blush palettes, and concealers. I can't wait for tomorrow! I plan to do a review on the Sleek eyeshadow and blush palettes soon so keep a look out! I can't wait for tomorrow! : )

I'll post some pics of the finished looks tomorrow (09/29/2012) Have a wonderul night!

My September 2012 Beauty Favorites

09/26/2012 20:22

Hope you're all doing well! Aside from being a boba feen, I'm a total makeup junkie! Sharing is caring and I'd love to share my September faves with you.

I watch a whole lot of YouTube and I heard tons of gurus raving about Maybelline Color Tattoos. My daughter and I went to Ulta and purchased Bad to the Bronze, Pomegranate Punk, and Bold Gold for $6.99. I loved Pomegranate Punk so much that I decided to go to Target to purchase Tough as Taupe and Too Cool for $5.84. My 2 faves are Tough as Taupe and Pomegranate Punk. I love the consistency of this product. It can be worn alone or act as an eyeshadow base to help make colors really POP!

What I typically do with Pomegranate Punk is apply it slightly above my crease with my finger, pat Cranberry eyeshadow by MAC over it, then define my outer crease with Smut, also by MAC. It looks so beautiful! Forgive me for the photo I took for Tough as Taupe. It really doesn't do the cream shadow justice. I've heard so many great things about this shade but honestly, when I first opened the pot I thought it was a little funky! It looks a little muddy - like a mud mask you would put on your face. Lol. However, when I applied it onto my eyelid I was pleasantly surprised by how it turned out. Again, you can wear it alone or use it as a base. When I use this shade I use neutral tones, blues, or purples. It's really versatile. I liked Bad to the Bronze also, but for me personally the color was hard to work with. It reminds me a little of MAC's Woodwinked, which I love. The problem for me is I feel my eyes always need a little more definition because they are small and... not so great. ; / When I do use Bad to The Bronze I use a dark brown shadow such as Embark, Brun or Mystery by MAC and a matte black from my Sleek palette to further accentuate. I'm a big fan of this product. I just wish they had testers so I didn't have to purchase all the other shades that I didn't really like.

My next fave is Avon's Bronzing Pearls.

I saw this product in a tutorial done by Sam Chapman of Pixiwoo. It looked like something I would love since I'm a bronzer and shimmer freak. Thankfully we have a sweet little Avon lady at work! Lol. I purchased it and love it! What you do is you take a brush and you swirl it around in the pearls in the container to pick up some color then sweep it on to your cheeks. The photo on the left is in the shade Bronzed and the photo to the right is in the shade Sunkissed. I use Bronzed as a bronzer and Sunkissed as a highlighter. It gives a subtle touch of sun and shimmer in a subtle way.  It has a scent to it that I am not too fond of. It sort of smells tropical...if that makes sense. Lol. Almost like coconut rum? Haha! I'm not a big fan of those scents, but I like the product so much that I definitely can get passed that. : ) The cost is normally $10.99 but the catalog that I purchased it from was having a special. It was buy one get the second one for $1.99. It was a steal!

My next fav is something I received in my August Glam Bag. It is Eclos Anti-aging Cellular Activator Face Serum and Eclos Restorative Cream. I love these products because I love anything that is anti-aging and anything that makes my skin look better. I have very sensitive skin and my skin will typically show a reaction within 24 hours. Fortunately for me, my skin loves Eclos. According to the website, these products are enriched with something called PhytoPlex24, which are plant extracts, vitamins, and antioxidants that work with plant stem cell technology to help reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, amd tired skin. This information was extracted from eclosbeauty.com. Do I feel like this product does what it claims? Yes, I do. I have fine lines under my eyes and since I've been using these products, it definitely have seen a difference in my fine lines. I normally use these products for my eye area as I am using another skin care line for my day and night skin care regimen. The moisturizer is so rich and makes my skin feel well hydrated. I also occasionally use it under my makeup where I get dry patches and it makes my makeup look flawless and hydrated. I purchased Eclos from Walgreen, each for $19.99 each. Great bargain, right?!

My final fav for the month of September is my Chloe Paris perfume. My daughter and I were in Sephora one day testing perfumes and I came across this fragrance. It's funny because I remember smelling this perfume when I was a young girl and thinking it smelled like a "grandma" scent. Lol. When I smelled it this time around I just couldn't walk away. I sprayed it and told myself that if I really like it I can always purchase it another time. When we met my husband outside of the store I asked him what he thought of it and he said it smelled good, so I went back right away to purchase it! I have to tell you..It's a pretty penny! I bought the 1.7 fl oz for $90. The 1 oz was $65. I was originally going for the $65 bottle but they were out. I liked the scent so much that I just went ahead and got the 1.7 fl oz. This fragrance has a musky rose scent. I know that doesn't sound appealing but it really does smell good! I feel as though the longer I wear it the better it smells throughout the day.

I hope you enjoyed my September favorites! Please email me for any questions or comments! Hope this was helpful and enjoyable!

Have a blessed one!

Our 7 Year "I Love You" Anniversary <3

09/24/2012 22:59

Today was me and my husband's 7 year I Love You Anniversary. I know, I know...sounds cheesy. I figure if we're going to be together the rest of our lives, we have to keep the fire burning every chance we get.

Our actual I Love You Anniversary is today, but since I work the p.m. shift at my job on Mondays, I decided to plan something for Sunday. I was supposed to work a.m. shift on Sunday, but I asked one of my co-workers to work my shift earlier in the week. Thankfully she said yes, so I planned a date for us. Last Thursday I printed a picture of us that was taken at my dad's 65th birthday celebration so I can make a homemade card. I put a little something, something...telling him the story of when I was certain I loved him.

Satruday night after he knocked out I made a little instruction book for him to read through. It basically said that I was stealing him for the day for a date. I hoped it was a pleasant surprise and I thanked the Lord when he finally read the instructions and saw the freaking card at 7:00 a.m. I thanked the Lord because my alarm that morning went off at 5:15 a.m. My husband thinking I had work that morning, he kept waking me up every 15 minutes! Lol.

Anyhow, we were off for our date...without the kids! Felt weird but good at the same time. It's hard to have a good time and not feel guilty for not bringing the kiddies along. We went to Downtown Brea for lunch at Bruxie. Man, I can I say, DELISH?! I had the pastrami...because I  L O V E pastrami! And the hubby had smoked salmon and loved it. I took a photo for my instagram, but it certainly did not do the sandwich justice.

We also ordered the Seasonal Creme Brulee. Hot damn...EYE BALL ROLLER!!! My husband loved it so much...well WE loved it so much we wanted to go back for dinner. LOL! When we got to DT Brea the Jazz Fest was going on, so we were able to enjoy our lunch and enjoy the music at the same time.

Afterwards, we went to Cinema 5, also in Brea to watch a $3 movie. What can beat that, man?! We watched The Amazing Spiderman - it was good...and I didn't fall asleep! LOL. For those of you who don't know, I have a sickness of falling asleep during movies. Yup, it's true! I think out of all the movies I've watched in my life, I've stayed awake during 7 of them. : ) Before, during, and after the movie we kept high-fiving each other because we were so excited that we only spent $6 for our movie! It was funny.

After the movie we decided to go to the infamous Farrell's back in DT Brea. We looked at each other like, "dare we wait in that line...in the heat...just for ice cream???" We said screw it! We're gonna do it! So we did. We waited in line in the heat for an hour. I had the Mocha Nut which had chocolate, vanilla, and coffee ice cream with a sh*t load of peanuts, which I am not too fond of. Hubby had the...umm...dang, I forgot what it was called but it had 2 scoops of butter pecan, bananas, and a side of butter scotch. Was it good? Sure! Would I do it again? Nope! Would I do it again for the kids? Sure, why not? My hubby and I both agreed that it was more of  the ambiance than the ice cream/food. There were like 12 birthday celebrations going on within the 45 minutes we were there! Otherwise, it was a good experience.

That was pretty much the end of our date and...it was a great one.

Celebrating your I Love You Anniversary is a nice way of keeping the sparks flying. : )

Hope you all had a great day!

God Bless!
