An Amazing Valentine's Day Gift
03/01/2013 10:36Valentine's morning I woke up to one of the most thoughtful gifts from my older daughter, Jennalyn.
I posted it immediately on my Instagram.
When you have children there is so much pressure. There's even more pressure when you want to be a great parent. I wrote a love letter to my daughter and this is what it read:
Dearest Babe,
Happy Valentine's Day! This is my love letter to you. : )
I've loved you since I set eyes on you, August 24th 19-- at 4:08 p.m. From the time you were in the womb, I told myself that I would do everything I can to be a great mother. I had so much to prove, not only to myself but to my family and friends. I felt like I had to prove to the world that a 17 year old teenager would be able to succeed in raising a little person. It was definitely hard. There were a lot of nights crying while holding you, rocking you to sleep. There also had to be discipline which I hated doing, but for me, it was all about teaching you the lesson.
To see you grow into such a beautiful, smart, kind, and silly young lady makes me very proud. I like to think...or hope that I had something to do with that. Lol! The most rewarding part is to know that you love me unconditionally. You're mature enough to understand me and why I make the choices I make in raising you and your sister.
It's important for you to know that everything I do and everything I say, I have every intention of instilling something great in you. Self respect, love, honestly, confidence, security, faith in God, strength, compassion, and loyaltyare just a few of the things I would like fo you to take with you. I know you;ll run into tough times. Somethimes you will even think God is picking on you, but just have faith. When you really just don't know the answers, leave it in His hands and He will take care of it. Know that there is a reason for everything.
You know that I overly love you and your sister and there is absolutely nothing I would not do to protect you both from this crazy world. Like I've told you before, if I can keep you and Jazzy in a bubble to protect you, I would. You two are all that I truly live for...and my ultimate gift will be to see the both of you become successful in all aspects of life.
You're an amazing daughter, babe. I owe my life to you because you saved me the day you were born.
With All the Love in the World,
Your Overly Loving Mother
